Built on the triangular site of Sumner’s former community centre, this new structure gives the community a central hub for the first time since the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes.
Constructed in three variants to resemble the street frontages of days gone by, the centre’s prominent red oxide panels resonate with the red cliffs behind Sumner Village, while the internal finishes display the rich history of iwi and cultural groups.
